Job Role Summary

As a Prime Paddling Instructor, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation, organisation and delivery of all taster sessions and private bookings.

You will be required to work as part of a team to set up, pack down and proactively provide assistance to all centre users. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintain an excellent standard of customer service. 

  • Assist in the preparation, organisation, delivery and the running of activities for all taster sessions and private bookings (e.g. Group Bookings and Birthday Parties). 

  • Work as part of the team to set up, pack down and proactively provide assistance to all centre users during the day. 

  • Be flexible in your role and willing to assist in all other duties as requested by the Centre Manager. 

  • To operate within all of Prime Policies and Operating Procedures

  • Carry out daily equipment checks and defects logging inclusive of: inflating paddle boards and checking buoyancy aids for damage. 

  • Ensure that the following are up to date and uploaded to both Prime Paddling’s Storage Drive and British Canoeing’s Membership Portal; Safeguarding, First Aid (minimum 6 hours), in date 20 CPD credits (every 3 years) and British Canoeing ‘On the Water’ Membership. 

  • Actively follow and report malpractice and concerns of safeguarding to the centre manager.

  • Prepare and plan engaging and fun sessions that are adapted to suit the needs of the learners. 

  • Actively portray Prime Paddling through attitude, respect and persona. For example, standing up to speak to customers, greeting them as they enter the site, looking proactive, maintaining a safe and clean environment, wearing appropriate clothing and branded uniform.

  • Ensure that customers are correctly kitted for their sessions, inclusive of buoyancy aid checks and craft briefings. 

  • Deal with Complaints, ensuring relevant evidence is compiled if required. 

  • Be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of young people whilst being committed to keeping children safe.

  • Actively follow and report malpractice and concerns of safeguarding inline with Prime Paddling Policies.

You Must

  • Have the right to work in the UK

  • Hold or be willing to obtain a valid DBS

Required Skills/Qualifications

Possible In House Training 

  • Adaptable and willing to change plans where needed

  • Basic understanding and knowledge of risk management procedures

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of British Canoeing policies

  • Be able to provide equal opportunity to all those under their duty of care. 

  • >16 years old

  • Hold a Paddlesport Instructor Award / L1 Coach

  • Registered with and up to date British Canoeing On the Water Membership

  • First Aid Trained (minimum of 8 hours)

  • Safeguarding Certified

  • Enthusiastic and willing to work alongside a close team

  • Development of confidence across a variety of craft

  • Manual Handling
